Allotment Rota
Concept · Watering rota, shared-kit log and a proper noticeboard for community allotments and sheds.
01 · Allotment Rota
The problem
Community allotments run on goodwill and a wipeable whiteboard in the shed that always disagrees with itself. The strimmer vanishes for three weeks. Nobody knows whose turn it is to water in the August heatwave. The committee meets to argue about it.
What we built
Allotment Rota is a phone-first home for the site. A visual rota shows who waters which beds this week — if you swap with someone, tap once and everyone sees it. The shared-kit log tracks the strimmer, hose reels, tools and borrowed wheelbarrows; 'overdue' alerts fire after 48 hours. A small noticeboard handles harvest swaps and 'please water Bed 7, I'm on holiday' notes.
What it does
Features, no fluff.
Watering rota — beds × weeks, drag to swap a slot
Shared-kit log — 'who has the strimmer' with 48h overdue nudges
Noticeboard — harvest swaps, absences, site-wide announcements
Site map — number each plot, pin who's tending it, photos over seasons
Committee tools — sign off the rota, log site work days, AGM minutes
Quiet by design — weekly digest email rather than constant pings
